I‘m not dating anymore.
I am no longer pursuing romantic relationships. Instead, I have chosen to prioritize a life centered around my career, travel, and friendships.
Yes, you read that right. I have made the conscious decision to abandon the pursuit of dating or seeking a personal partner in favor of embracing a lifestyle marked by adventure and exploration. Upon sharing this decision with a select few, including individuals who expressed interest in me romantically, I received varied and intriguing reactions.
When my friends inquired about the state of my dating life, I conveyed to them my firm conclusion: I have opted out. I have deleted my dating apps, ceased pursuing romantic connections on Instagram, and even resorted to wearing a wedding ring in an attempt to deter potential suitors.
“Why make such a choice?” one friend inquired. “Is it not possible to maintain a relationship while also engaging in work and travel?” While it is indeed feasible to juggle multiple commitments, I find myself lacking the desire to do so. Furthermore, I am of the belief that a truly fulfilling relationship requires my full dedication and mindfulness towards the other person involved.
While I hold deep affection for my friendships and family, I recognize that entering into a life partnership necessitates a genuine mutual commitment. Yet, the lifestyle I desire, one focused on personal growth and exploration, leaves little room for such a commitment.
Do not misunderstand me; I still derive enjoyment from socializing and flirting. However, I am transparent about my intentions — I am not seeking a romantic relationship, nor even casual arrangements. My priority lies in nurturing self-love and self-care in all its forms, resulting in a complete disappearance of my desire for physical intimacy. This transformation intrigues me greatly. While I still love and appreciate myself, I am no longer interested in involving another person in that aspect of my life.
As a result of this self-discovery and devotion, I feel liberated from a life dominated by physical desires. Additionally, I find myself drawn towards spirituality, a surprising yet complementary aspect of my journey. This newfound spirituality has emerged alongside my dedication to self-love, revealing an unexpected connection between the two. While I did not anticipate this outcome, I welcome it as part of my ongoing journey towards self-discovery.
Label me as you wish — be it eccentric or asexual. I find joy and fulfillment in embracing this new and unconventional path. I am eager to discover what the future holds and am particularly intrigued by the experiences and perspectives of others who may share similar sentiments. Please feel free to leave a comment or reach out to me directly if you wish to engage in conversation.
